This website is nearly complete, a lot of time went into figuring out how to present this site in the best possible light for all concerned. Which brings up an interesting conundrum. After starting the original website I quickly found that I'd have preferred to have a simple domain name, but as it was, a free site with a free domain address - (ramfilms.moviefever.com), it was too good to pass up for the time being. This stayed in place for five years until I was able to redo the entire website and have a nice domain name. But there arose a problem. The extension - .com was taken by some guy on the east coast who hasn't used it, he's just sitting on the name until someone buys it from him. So I was left with .net or .org to choose from It was a bit of a decision, Ramfilms is a loose organization of actors and yet it is also a networking type site. By the time I chose .org, it was snatched up by some guy in South Africa! So I went straight-away to get the .net extension. I feel Providence led to this choice. It is aptly more suited to the mission of the website and hopefully will accomplish a lot more for all involved. Therein lies the conundrum, now it becomes apparent that the older website, which was a kinder, gentler site has to change to become more assertive and at times even agressive. Why? Because with the influx of new filmwork coming in at such an unprededented rate, many folks are showing their true colors. They have been taking advantage of others, encouraging bickering and pettiness, and have been doing things in an unethical manner. Some things that are being done are not necessarily wrong but they are NOT right either. Ramfilms is now starting a program of awareness through postings and articles on the website to educate folks that things can be much better and we don't have to settle for the half-cooked nonsense being passed around as a legit film business. Think that's harsh? Take a closer look at some of the PR being touted in the press. A lot of it don't make any sense. So now Ramfilms has a new domain of www.ramfilms.net - net for networking - and that is EXACTLY what we need to do. If we network we all come out ahead and OUR industry in OUR state becomes a more viable labor force manned by professionals that will be recognized nationwide.
