| About a hundred of Wes Studi fans met in Albuquerque on the 26th of May 2003 to meet the celebrity and listen to his views on working in the film industry. He also answered questions from the audience. Mr Studi was very pleasant and quite sincere in his dealing with the questions posed to him by Mr Tom Schuch, president of the New Mexico branch of SAG and members of the audience. Many of Mr Studi's comments were refreshingly straight to the point, truthful and humorous.
He qualified for his SAG card under Taft-Hartley for a commercial he did.
Mr Studi was asked, "What brought you into and keeps you in the film industry?" His one-word answer was surprising but quite truthful for many in the business. He simply said, "Fear." Then he clarified it by saying, "It's that rush of adrenaline that you feel." He went on to relate how he loved the process of film making more than he did the end product. Mr Studi said he wants to do a film on a historical figure, a man named Ely Parker. Michael Mann and Walter Hill were two directors he mentioned he would want to work with again. He also said that Chief Dan George, Will Sampson and Jay Silverheels helped break down the walls for Indians. His advice for new actors starting out? Just do it. You gotta believe it.
